Learn About Different Types of Collison That Occurs!

Every collision is different and unique on its own. However, the collisions occur in a specific pattern. Awareness of them can greatly benefit in avoiding accidents. learn more about such crashes here. Let us go through some of the most common collisions throughout the US.

Rear-End Collisions

Rear-end collisions occur when drivers fail to focus on the road or follow the vehicle in front too closely. It is very dangerous to drive too close to the car in front. In a collision, the rear driver will not have adequate time and area to pull the brake, resulting in an accident. Distracted and drunk drivers are among the leading causes of rear-end car accidents.

Head-On Collision

These are one of the most dangerous kinds of crashes. It is comparatively less common than other kinds of car accidents. In this crash, both vehicles are in forwarding movement toward each other. As a result, the impact force is exceptionally high. They result in severe injuries and may even lead to death. Speeding, carelessness, and distracted driving are the causes of such collisions. They can cause trauma to the brain, damaged spinal cord, fractured bones, and internal harm to organs.

Side-Impact Collisions

Side-impact collisions occur when a car moving in a specific direction collides with another at a ninety-degree angle. The vehicles ended up forming a “T” shape when they crashed.

These collisions are hazardous for those sitting on the impacted side of the car. The sides of a vehicle are less competent in absorbing the effects of crashes compared to the front and rear of the car. These crashes are caused by failures of yielding, failures in stopping at intersection points, not following traffic symbols, etc. Distracted drivers and those under the influence are more prone to causing such accidents.

Sideswipe Accidents

Sideswipe accidents occur when multiple vehicles are traveling parallel to each other, and one of the vehicles ends up striking the side of another car. These crashes are caused by the failure to check blind spots before making changes in the lane. These accidents are severely harmful as the impact force can lead to loss of control from both drivers and ultimately make the cars veer off to other lanes. Whiplash, broken bones, internal organ damage, spinal cord damage, head injuries, and brain injuries are common in this type of crash.

Single-Vehicle Accidents

Single-vehicle crashes are a common occurrence caused by a car’s contact with something in the path, like an animal, cargo, or debris. Those objects make the car veer off the path, leading to further collisions with poles, guardrails, etc. The resulting injuries from these accidents are severe—drivers who abuse alcohol or drive with extreme exhaustion and fatigue end up causing these accidents.
